4 D 3 N Best Komodo Dragon-Wae Rebo Village
Welcome to our Komodo Dragon and Wae Rebo Village package. On your arrival in Komodo Airport, our agency team (tour guide and driver) will welcome you and give a short briefing before heading to Labuan Bajo’s harbour. The Komodo Dragon is an ancient animal which only exists in Komodo National Park, Flores Island, Indonesia. They are the biggest living lizards on earth. Mainly, they are known as dangerous animal. Their saliva consists of sixty kinds of bacteria that can kill prey (deer, water buffaloes, wild boar, horses, etc). Komodo Dragons are carnivorous animals. To see this giant lizard and feel the native tradition will make your trip will more memorable. This combination package is a complete trip on Flores Island especially West Manggarai Regency. Of course, the Komodo Dragons are the keys attraction of this regency. However, the regency is also famous for the traditions and traditional houses of the native Manggarai tribe. Wae Rebo is one of the Manggaray Regency where these unique houses are located. The houses, called ‘Mbaru Niang’, are tall and canonical in shape and completely covered in lontar thatch from the rooftops down to the ground. But, to reach that village you need some extra energy because long trek is about 6 kilometers and takes 3 hours from Denge village. The walking track is under tropical forest which is rich in vegetation, where you will find orchids, different type of ferns and hear the chirping of many songbirds. Besides that, native people are friendly and helpful.
This tour starts and ends in Labuan Bajo.
Day 1. Labuan Bajo-Kelor Island-Rinca Island-Flying Fox Island
The agency team will pick up the client from airport/hotel. A short briefing is then delivered by the tour guide. On the way to the harbor we could spend some time Puncak Wai Ringing to the get the nice view of the harbour. Then, we will head to Kelor Island to enjoy the view from the summit which takes 1 hour from Labuan Bajo’s harbor. The next stop is Rinca Island. Rinca Island is an island which is home to more than one thousand Komodo Dragons, and where you will take one of the following trekking options to see this giant living lizard. Short trek ( 45 minutes ), medium trek (1-1.5 hours), and long trek ( 2 hours). There is ranger with his stick who will accompany and protect us while we are on the trail. In the afternoon, we will enjoy the beautiful sunset before witnessing thousands of flying fox coming out from the tiny island. Lunch and dinner will be provided on boat.
Day 2. Padar Island-Manta Point-Kanawa Island-Labuan Bajo
Early in the morning, we will sail to Padar Island to hike and enjoy the great view from the top of this island. Three colourful beaches will face you and give a sense of the magnificent panorama. The hike takes about 20 minutes to reach the top. On the island, there is a cement ladder that will help you to the top. Afterward, we will sail to Manta Point to see and swim with Manta Ray. This will test your adrenaline. But, we do not guarantee to see Manta Ray- it depends if it’s your lucky day. The change are good though, because Manta Ray always gather here. The current is quite strong, so be aware and take extra care. Next, we will move on to Kanawa Island which is a spot for snorkeling, swimming, and to enjoy white the sandy beach. It takes 2 hours from Manta Point to get there. Afterward, we will go back to Labuan Bajo and stay a night at the hotel. Breakfast and lunch will be served on the boat. You can have dinner at your hotel or restaurant.
Day 3. Labuan Bajo-Denge Village-Wae Rebo Village
In the morning after breakfast, we will pick you up from your hotel to go to Wae Rebo village. There are some spots on the way for taking pictures of the beautiful landscape before the car stops at Denge Village. From Labuan Bajo to Denge Village it takes 6 hours. The car stops at Denge village where we will start the trek for 6 kilometers which take about three hours. Challenge yourself with a trek along Wae Rebo’s trails set in lush coffee and vanilla plantation surrounded by untouched rainforest, and densely populated by endemic birds and exotic flora. The residents of Wae Rebo village lead a harmonious agrarian lifestyle in harmony with nature. Wae Rebo is famous for its cone shaped houses known as “Mbaru Niang”. Stay a night in “Mbaru Niang”. Breakfast at the hotel. Lunch at a restaurant. Dinner in Wae Rebo Village.
Day 4. Denge Village-Spider Web Rice-Labuan Bajo
After having breakfast in Wae Rebo Village, we will trek back down through to rain forest to Denge Village, where we will have lunch. From there, we will travel by car to see the Spiderweb Rice Paddy. The Spider Web Rice Paddy is located in Lingko Cara, Cancar which is 17 km from Ruteng the capital city of Manggarai Regency. It takes 3 hours from Denge Village. Lingko is a traditional Manggaraian system of land posession where, depending on the family’s size the family head divides land based on the distance between his fingers. Lastly, we will drive back to Labuan Bajo. Breakfast in Wae Rebo Village, lunch in Denge Village, and dinner at the a restaurant.
